Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Heading along the M1 this summer? Fancy somewhere nice to spend sometime and stretch your legs? Holiday in Yorkshire or a local that hasn't yet tried this place?

The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is a wonderful place to wander around, take in the art and sculptures, visit the cafe. Set within 500 acres of 18th-century landscape and the sculptures really are extraordinary.

The exhibitions are generally on for long periods of time and my current favourite is a Damien Hirst, a pregnant lady- April '19-Sept '24.

Check out the website for the current exhibitions. Over the summer (2023) there is a great one called 'Curiosity & Wonder' exploring the lifelong importance of play. Also this summer returning for a second year the YSP landscape will be full of clouds of foam in this interactive artwork as part of the Curiosity and Wonder season.

My children love it here and run around discovering the sculptures. It's a great place to meet up with friends. It's ideally located close to the M1 but a world away in terms of views and greenery.

YSP is a charity so all the tickets sales go back into supporting what they do. It's £10 per adult, under 18's free and price includes parking. There are a couple of options for food and drink, coffee, self serve restaurant and a new restaurant which I haven't tried. It is also a perfect place for a picnic!
