Swinley Forest- The Look Out

The Look Out Discovery Centre, Swinley Forest, Bracknell.

Wow! I know we are late to the party but for those of you that are too, you must try The Lookout Discovery Centre and Swinley Forest.

I have been meaning to go for years but we are now lucky enough to live 20mins away! However its quite convieniently located just near the M3, M4 and M25... althogh you wouldn't have a clue you were near such motorways in the wonderful forest.

The Look Out centre cost's £8.40 for an adult and under 4s are free, child £6.15 and family saver £22.95. For this you get 3 hours in the centre and can come and go as you please. Car park is £3.10 for 3 hrs or £6.20 all day (takes card).

Inside has lots of hands apparatus on for the children, a digger area and building bricks, water play, space section, science section, a small insect section . Honestly so much fun, my phone ran out of battery so I didn't take a lot of photos! We had a lovely time and well worth the money! They do shows as well I think but we didn’t go to one.

It's exciting climbing up to the Look Out tower, amazing views.

An added bonus is you don’t have to leave via the gift shop! Unusual I know!

There is a take away cafe selling lovely food, not just the usual chicken nuggets, much wider variety. Great for both children and adults and reasonably priced. Good coffee too!

There are plenty of places to sit with either picnic or takeaway, there is a rain?Sun proof marquee should you need it.

Outside (which you don’t need a ticket for) are the most incredible playgrounds located next to the cafe in the woods, perfect for all ages and lots of great den building opportunities.

There is a cycle shop and lots of routes for cycling, both mountain biking and on gravel paths. We have only had a quick cycle here once so far but plan to visit again very soon. Last time we were there we saw cycle lessons going on which I am going to look into. Not learn to cycle but mountain bike improvers etc.

On the same site there is also a Go Ape, Axe throwing and you can hire Segways.

Highly recommended if you live near enough for a day trip or happen to want to break up a journey on one of the motorways!
