Holland at Easter- Part 2

Updated: Jul 10, 2023

Roompot Beach Resort Nieuwvliet-Bad,Holland

After our stay at Efteling (read here for Efteling and here for the hotel) we drove back south to Zeeland and the Roompot Beach Resort, Nieuvliet-Bad. This came as a recommendation from a friend who had stayed previously and we booked it right away. I was so pleased to see it on the Little clogs website as I’ve really come to trust their recommendations!

We chose an L6 Comfort cabin and we were really pleased with it. 3 bedrooms, fully kitted kitchen, open plan lounge with a huge corner sofa and TV. Garden furniture and a lockable bike shed. We took our bikes with us but you can also hire.

The facilities on the park are amazing!

* Indoor swimming pool complex with 3 tube slides, splash areas, small lazy river...

* Indoor soft play and a hangout den for teenagers, no parents allowed!

* Mini golf

* Bike hire

* Roompot Ranger hire (children’s ride on electric cars which you have an emergency stop button!)

* Numerous playgrounds dotted around everywhere, never far away from one.

* There is a restaurant and a couple of snack bars… speciality loaded fries!

* The shop is also a bakers with fresh produce, be prepared to queue for your croissants in the morning, though it does move quickly.

The restaurant we didn’t try, but we sat in the tastefully decorated central plaza and watched the robot waiter at work, fascinated the children!

The location is perfect, on the coast but easy reach to so many nice towns and cities. As you are on the Belgium/Holland border you can easily visit Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp.

We visited a little town close by called Sluis. A lovely place with a windmill and set around a canal, lots of lovely shops to browse around or have lunch. It has the best toy shop which we spent too long in one rainy day!

We mainly stayed around the park but there is so much to do around the area. My husband, whilst out on his bike, spotted a quirky museum cafe not far off site. We went to a restaurant with a great playground inside and out called De 5 Weeghen - that’s a 10 min cycle ride on safe cycle tracks. We bought a coffee there while the children played.

We had a fantastic cycle ride down the coast to Cadzand where we ate waffles and played in the sand. Another day we cycled up the coast to yet another cafe on the beach! The coastal route is great for cycling, walking, scooting... The beaches are amazing! Dotted with cafes and the best cycle lanes, so safe. We hardly scratched the surface and we would love to return one day.

I haven't even started on the food, pancakes, waffles, fries, loaded fries, all popular with the Dutch!

The best thing is it’s only 1hr 40mins drive from Calais! We broke up this journey by spending a few hours in Dunkirk. Visited a museum and lounged at a beachside cafe while the children played in the sand. Then it was a short drive to catch the ferry.

The holiday was such a reasonable price too, considering it was school holidays. So much cheaper than Centre Parcs in the UK, even with the travel included its much cheaper and much more exciting in my opinion! I can not wait to explore more of Holland! Check out the Little Clogs website for inspiration!
