Fancy the Original Legoland? Denmark

Updated: Jul 10, 2023

A few years ago we had a wonderful week in Denmark and an amazing trip to Legoland, Billund. This is the original Legoland and next the the first ever Lego factory. Billund is an easy place to get to. We flew direct from Heathrow, both Legoland and Lalandia are a very short taxi ride from the airport.

We stayed at Lalandia in Billund, which is a Center Parcs type place (but much more reasonable!) walkable to Legoland.

It’s very spacious and so much to do. An amazing Aquadome on site, excellent soft play (Monky Tonky), an inside village area, which is themed like outside, the children loved watching to shows here. So much more, check out the website.

We stayed in a wonderful cabin, floor to ceiling windows, there are many different choices set in spacious grounds.

As our children were younger then and because we were so close, we did Legoland in the morning and then swimming in the afternoon, both days. Lalandia badeland billund, Scandinavias biggest! So many slides and pools… amazing! Even has an underground cave pool! We LOVED it! We found this a great way to visit Legoland over 2 days.

We went in the Easter Holidays, Legoland was quiet as it wasn't a holiday in Denmark. Not so many queues and we could go on some rides multiple times. The weather was also glorious!

From a Billund we hired a car and drove to Copenhagen via Odense, childhood home of Hans Christian Andersen, read about our trip in our Danish Road Trip Blog.

We hope to return one day to so our youngest can experience it and when I’m not pregnant so I can go on the rides! Also we want to visit Lego house which looks amazing.
